Matthew Fletcher

Solicitor

Matthew has experience in advising a broad range of employee and employer clients on both contentious and non-contentious matters.

He regularly advises individuals on employment contracts, including complex post-termination restrictions and entitlements under a wide variety of benefit schemes, and in relation to negotiated exits.  He also provides strategic and commercial advice to businesses on a variety of employment matters, including: redundancy exercises; disciplinary and performance management processes; breaches of restrictive covenants by former employees; and, reviewing and updating employment procedures and practices.

Matthew has advised in matters encompassing the full spectrum of litigious employment law, and has developed a particular specialism in advising employees in disability discrimination cases, specifically those involving individuals with mental health conditions, and whistleblowing claims.  He has frequently represented clients in pursuing, and defending, claims in both the Employment Tribunal and civil courts.  Matthew recognises the importance of clearly identifying the needs and objectives of each client in order to provide pragmatic, bespoke advice.

Matthew is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association.

As an undergraduate Matthew studied Chemistry at Oxford.  He later undertook his legal studies at Nottingham Law School, before moving south to complete his training at a firm based in north London.  After qualifying in 2007, Matthew worked for two central London firms, both recognised by the various legal directories as leaders in the field of employment law, before joining didlaw in August 2015.

Outside of work Matthew can usually be found either entertaining his young daughter or on the sports field.  He regularly plays football, cricket and golf.  Matthew also has a passion for food and music.

"The speed with which my situation was taken on board, understood and acted upon was excellent and very re-assuring. Throughout our dealings both empathy and communication were excellent. I would have no hesitation in recommending the firm."

“Although I requested your legislative services I received far more than that. Your moral support throughout the difficult times I’ve been through has been more than I would have hoped for. It is true, you’re not just another law firm!”

“I was having a very difficult time with my employers and didlaw gave me the support and legal clout that I needed in order to reach a satisfactory conclusion. I found everyone at didlaw to be very helpful, friendly and easy to talk to. In particular, I was always treated with great respect and never felt “put down”, stupid or rushed when speaking to didlaw staff about my employment matter, I could say all that I needed to say and was always listened to.”
